That was interesting.
FWIW I never ask people. Lots of people tell me stuff (even people who aren't my friends, although now that I think about it, they may not know they aren't, so there is something else for me to think about) - but then lots of people tell me all kinds of personal stuff (and some of it I really don't want to know) but I've never been good at shutting people up. I have never minded being told about sexual orientation though.

In 3d I know I inspire confidences, because I am empathetic. It's just the way I am. I've had my share of unwanted confidences on the internet too- but not by any of my friends who may read this, you know who you are, and I'm not talking about you.
