You make an interesting point about Nixon and Clinton.

And that's the difference. To me that's like saying Tricky Dick (can I use that instead of his real name?) was OK except for some questionable judgements about handling Watergate.

IMO, Clinton's wrongdoings were largely out of the scope of his duties as President. Though I know it can be argued that the time and effort he spent planning and concealing the affair, much less dealing with it after it was made public, effected his ability to carry out his duties.

Nixon is an interesting comparison in that both men were brilliant but psychologically flawed: Clinton by his libido, Nixon by his paranoia. I think Nixon is rightfully lauded for his work with China, BTW.
