You cannot compare Afghan culture with the science and technology which existed in India. The Arab world has never given the world anything but religion. A few links to make you aware of your heritage. The British looted India, robbing it of its rich heritage and put a halt to the pursuit of progress....food and shelter became more important.

The ability to speak English does not necessarily make a person 'cultured' and 'civilised' in my opinion. It does not make us better people. But a lot from Asia feel a sense of inferiority for their lack of english langage skills, or if they don't study in British schools...which is pretty silly IMO.

I have been busy since, but this was a quick look on YHOO...its just a tip of the iceberg. I believe a lot of sciences originated from India. India could never exploit them becoz it was entangled in all kinds of aggressions and the struggle for survival became more important.

What the West gives the East, is opportunity. Thats the only thing I would concede. Other than that, I don't think the subcontinent owes the British anything

Science and Maths. Theres a lot on Medicine too, but I don't have patience to look for it...
