Hi Stan,

>>Boy, Mitch, did you flub this one. The Bible makes mention of three kinds of death...<<

You can make the Old Testament say about anything if you are willing to redefine words to your liking! Notice that you used New Testament references to define a word in an early Old Testament passage. You seem to acknowledge that the other passages that reference the tree of life do mean "die" in the physical manner we are all accustomed to. So why interpret it differently for the death-promise? I'll tell you why... because you cannot accept that God would lie.

Let me ask you two questions:
Do you think Adam understood the three different kinds of death that you outlined from the Old Testament?
If not, do you you think God knew that Adam misunderstood?

If you answered "yes" and "no", respectively, then if seems that God meant to deceive Adam (aka - lie). It would be the first (but not the last) time God lied in the Bible.

>>Huh? You're extrapolating. He did not say God would be afraid of it.<<

You are right. I over-reached. (blush)

>>Since man was meant to live forever in the body, it doesn't matter that he died nearly a millennium later or died yesterday. It still is infinitely short of an eternity.<<

Firstly, It does matter if God deceives Adam by telling him he will die that very day. It makes God into a liar. You must redefine words to squirm out of that one. Secondly, Adam was not meant to live forever in the body... remember why God kept him away from the tree of life?
