Possibilities for nuclear terrorism:

Radiological attacks are a real concern. As this article posits, 'dusting' NYC, or some other large, important city... with long-lived radiologicals, could force abandonment of the areas for years, and untold economic harm.

I have previously posted information that our operant nuclear power plants are not designed to withstand impacts from modern-sized airliners... and that the spent fuel rods (and other dangerous high level waste) are stored still at the plant sites (because after decades of effort we still have no long term disposal) in un-hardened facilities, making for a particularly 'attractive' target.
