I recognize that laws intended for one purpose can be misused. I was getting at the ethics point. In this case, the plaintiff is being disingenuous. But shinkage of habitat is a real problem. Without knowing the facts of the case, I'd not be able to offer an opinion. And at the end of the day, it would still be only an opinion, relative to my experience and values. You and I could end up disagreeing. Again, relative.

But getting back to individuals, and adding St. Bill's sterility factor, I agree that this unfortunate soul brings his ethical notions with him. He has ethics that are relative to him. I simply don't see absolute ethical issues as being present until some sort of cause and effect relationship has been established between him and other entities outside his sterile island.

If that cause and effect exist only in domains where we don't (like offenses to God(s)) then I don't buy it as an ethical issue. That is the only place from which such absolutes could come because everything else in the known universe is observer dependent (as far as root causes go).
