the point in posting the links to the threads where earlier discussions took place was so that people could go back and read the discussions.

I believe that all of the points that you made were at least discussed at some level.

A big part of this is to reduce the demand for ME oil. That can be done through conservation, alternate energy sources, Lower MPG reqs for cars, finding other sources for fossil fuels, such as Latin America, China, Russia.

I believe that there is a cost associated with ME oil that goes beyond the dollar amount. There is the cost to our integrity when you look at the human rights abuses that are practiced regularly in several of the countries in the mideast and now there is clearly a cost associate with the threat to our way of life and to our well being. At some point, those costs outweigh the pure dollar cost.
