Me too. And that of cockfighting. Cruelty breeds cruelty and the sentience of the being increases the horror that I feel. I simply don't like suffering of anything. As a teacher, you're probably more than qualified to appraise my example:

If you have to torture to death X people to save Y people from an identical tortured death, how does one establish that ratio? Do you simply refuse to do the calculus it because it is absolutely wrong to torture to death, or do you set the ratio high like one to a hundred?

These situations are relatively rare in our comfortable life here in the U.S., but guess what? We have one before us now in Afghanistan. How many civilian collaterals can we kill accidentally and still have a "Just Cause"? Historically, people f__k up when doing these calculations when we look back with 20-20 hindsight. I'm not comfortable when people spew things like "when you make an omelet you gotta break a few eggs." Yikes.
