WH, Good find, thanks The consuming public can & will act faster than politicos think possible. The New Economy w. include hi-tech options for energy accountability, as well as conservation, IMO. I once built a winery IT system with sensors on pipes and tanks recording every batch from every part of every field, creating a realtime database showing exactly the mix & sources being fermented over the many months in each tank, barrel, and bottle. The same thing probably already exists for petro and isn't publicized, but will change buying habits once it is -- 'Buy Canadian' will happen, in spades
"Is weaning the U.S. from Middle Eastern oil possible? Experts say great movement in that direction is very possible, if Americans understand future oil supply and demand, and what we can do to change consumption.
Though the biggest proven reserves of future oil are in the Middle East, the U.S. now gets as much oil from Canada and Venezuela as it does Saudi Arabia. Heavy development of Latin American and Canadian oil means that, in theory, the West will become more independent in the next two decades. " |
