The photographer was sick for several days before he went to the hospital. It wasn't a matter of hours.
Re: precautions My college roommate, who is now a medical micro-bacteriologist professor at a research college, made some common sense suggestions, don't bother opening mail which you'd toss out anyway (mostly junk mail), but keep doing what you love to do, refuse to let terror win.

Other news: WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The number of air travelers declined 34.2 percent last month and the September 11 attacks to blame, an airline industry trade group reported Monday. cnn.com "U.S. airlines carried 30.3 million passengers last month, compared to 46 million in September 2000, according to the Air Transport Association. The number of domestic passengers declined 34.9 percent, while international dropped 28.1 percent, it said."
