Samsung unveils 13-line color-screen mobile handset

Leading home appliance maker Samsung Electronics yesterday unveiled new mobile handset models armed with 13-line color LCD (liquid crystal display) screens, overtaking existing models with 12-line screens.

SCH-X230 and SCH-X250 are equipped with a 16 polyphony bell sound system and various color-screen only contents, Samsung said.

The two new models also support up to 144Kbps wireless Internet transmission and users can download digital applications and enjoy games and other features through a 256-color LCD screen.

Samsung said its 16 polyphony melody function will appeal to users preferring colorful sound effects for their bell sound.

Other features include color window UI (user interface), allowing users to set up menu operations, edit icon images and modify the starting menu.

The latest models are part of Samsung?¥×s push to popularize cdma2000 1x color-screen mobile handsets, armed with powerful wireless Internet features and better sound systems.

Samsung's new handset models are priced at around 600,000 won.
