Getch: Do you really want me to answer that??

Let's look back earlier in the year!!

Qualcomm sells LWIN equity.. counts proceeds in Pro Forma.. Claims that Investing is one of it's business segments.. Therefore, One time Gains on investment should be included in the Pro Forma... at the same time Qualcomm writes off 595 million from Globalstar. Claims that Globalstar was not an investment.. But, a non performing business segment.. Losses were excluded from the Pro Forma.

About 4 months later.. Globalstar pays Qualcomm some 30 million for "services".. Qualcomm includes proceeds into Pro Forma, even though they claimed it was a non-performing segment months earlier.. Qualcomm sells more LWIN and includes one-time gains into Pro Forma..

Qualcomm writes down Vesper.. (clearly an investment on Qualcomm's part). Suddenly, Investments must not be a business segment of Qualcomm's, because they excluded the impairment of Vesper from the Pro Forma.

If Qualcomm got a windfall from Nextwave... What do you think how it would be accounted for?? Well, of course.. Investing would suddenly become one of Qualcomm's "business segments" again...

It's business segment "du jour" with Qualcomm..

As far as the Gains that would come to Qualcomm.. I have not looked into it!
