I think Guiliani's comment was interesting and provocative, and undoubtedly mostly for the hometown crowd (the entire USA).

I've not read much on what happened that day but seem to recall reading that he passed his views past State Department first. They didn't stop him. I can't believe that if they felt very strongly that he should not react in the manner he did, that they could not have stopped him or altered the delivery of the message.

What are the chances that the US Govt wanted to send the Saudis a message via Rudy? He's not 'official' but still, a message is a message.

Or is this just a touchstone for R.G. that he can point back to when he resurfaces in a new political career?

(Hey, maybe he will be Sec. State LOL!)
