<"If your actions have moral implications and practical results then IMO both things need to be considered. ">

You asked and answered your own questions.

Ok. But I don't think this principle itself justifies "both abortion AND the death penalty". Certainly it could be used as part of a justification of a great many things, including those two, but you would have to have a specific idea about what the moral implications and practical results of those things, or any other things you might consider, before you could them from the general principle in my post.

To put this another way my principle may be part of a justification for those things, but it is neither necessary nor sufficient to support them, and it can be used as part of an argument against them, so I don't think it is useful to say "Tim, the principles you are espousing are the principles which justify both abortion AND the death penalty."

More specifically I am undecided about the death penalty (having gone back and forth on the issue for years), and against abortion. My principles, when taken as a whole do not support abortion. But some of them taken out of context and combined with other ideas that I do not hold, could be used to support just about anything.
