Absolutely - that might be the way it starts ...

I'd dearly love to see a few politicos be forced to recognize a petition, and to speak on the evening news the language of the taxpaying consumer, who simply wants an alternative to paying for more terrorist training with every fill-up ...

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out in the next few weeks. Listen for "news" from politicos, oil companies, and ME sheiks. Either mea culpas, or ... "it's not my fault !" I get the feeling huge groundswell is just beginning.

What's fascinating is the economic/political possibilities, the "nothing is stronger than an idea whose time has come", where an entrepreneurial renegade oil retailer actually starts advertizing non-ME oil. If it's a public co., the stock w. skyrocket, and there will be lines around the block. From there it'll be a domino effect.

Any ideas which companies might be convinced?

Maybe some email and phone calls, if some SI members can identify likely candidates, things could change pretty quickly ...
