True. But our forces are not targeting innocents although some have been and will probably continue to suffer injury despite the best efforts not to harm them. That is just one of the many unfortunate consequences of war.

I am completely comfortable with our nation's measured response to the wholesale slaughter of American citizens on American soil by an extremist organization supported and protected by the Afghan government.

The Afghan government, and its supporters, have much to answer for. Right now, we are delivering our response. With luck, the Afghan people will have their own opportunity in the near future.
