You presume the Afghani people want war. I suspect they do not.
Did the German people want war? The Japanese?
The Mexican people in 1846? Mexico under Santa Ana DID declare war on the US- -first.

Does it matter? Their government wanted war. That's all that's necessary.

You probably presume they want Bin Laden in their country- and yet were the terrorists Afghani?
Does it matter? If, during the Cold War, the US had knowingly provided safe haven to a group of Russian exiles who went back to Russia and poisoned Moscow's water supply, do you think the Russians would have accepted the quibble that "They are not Americans."?
Did they at Bay of Pigs? No. They blamed the United States. But the invaders were CUBANS.

The Afghani people are victims as much as the people who were blown up in the WTC, and this is especially true of Afghani women- virtual prisoners in their houses.
So the US is not allowed to make war on any country that attacks it but also mistreats its own women? That may pass with you, but I'm afraid it won't with the other 90% of the US population.

I suggest that you have no clue who the enemy is and that you have no conception of how little power the average Afghan citizens have.
In 1941, the average Japanese citizen had no influence on the Japanese government. Nevertheless when they attacked Pearl Harbor they had a war on their hands. Frankly, I find your argument unimpressive.

You compare a dictatorial theocracy (and I call it this loosely because their "government" really isn't what you or I would consider a real government) kept in power by repression with the US!
Then what is a "real" government? They control 90% of Afghanistan.
Is Saddam's government the "real" government of Iraq? Part of the country has effectively seceded.
There are numerous nations that do not effectively control all of their national territory.

" Is the US government representative of Americans?" In case you have forgotten, our representative are putatively elected by us.
You missed (intentionally, I think) part of that series of questions.
Was Hitler's government representative of Germans?
And : Was Stalin's government representative of Russians?
Was Mao's government representative of Chinese?
Most governments on this planet fail the "representative" test. Nevertheless, they wage declared and undeclared war.

Perhaps you need to do a little research on Afghanistan, so that you can talk about it intelligently.
I am quite familiar with what has happened in Afghanistan in the last twenty-some years, thank you.
