The last time I saw that problem was a damaged hive file on Windows 2000, since it wasn't a parallel installation, it required a reformat and reinstall(all data lost on that system). I think it means your MBR or registry are corrupted. If there is a chance they could save your data at Best Buy, I would go for it, but I'm guessing that is improbable.
