All,

A question to ponder.... When reading the special report re: Gene Therapy in the June/1997 issue of Scientific American, I came across a stated 'ultimate goal' of gene delivery systems. It was stated, "Our ultimate goal, of course, is to deliver vectors into the bloodstream or other sites and to have them act like homing pigeons, finding their own way to the desired cells -- say, to organs that are hard to reach or to hidden cancer deposits. No such targeted carriers are yet ready for testing in patients, but work toward that end is advancing quickly".

So, is Vical on course toward the 'ultimate goal'??? Is some other company closer to the 'ultimate goal'???

Bill
