but it isn't someone you were accusing of treason.
Uh, Karen, you didn't do your usual excellent job of reading. Let me hasten to get the record straight.
I didn't accuse anybody of treason. Quite the contrary. Somebody else accused her of treason, and I said no, what she said wasn't treason. Very wrongheaded, IMO, but not treason.
I do, though, get mighty tired of all this boo-hoo-hooing about how the US has broughtall this on itself. We are the freest country in the world. People from all over the world are clamoring to come here and enjoy our freedoms. People risk death to escape to this country. I don't pretend that we're perfect, but I don't see people sneaking across borders, paying thousands of dollars to smuggles, launching tiny boats in dangerous seas, hiding in trucks, in cargo crates, etc. to get into Afghanistan, or Pakistan, or the Sudan, etc.
I'm not blind to our faults, but I can tell the difference between logs and motes.
I don't think we should equate negative speech with irresponsible speech with treason.
I agree. That was precisely the point I was trying to make last night. And here you put it succinctly in one brief sentence. Shows what a good night's sleep will do for one!! |
