Execution in the US would be absolutely the worst thing politically. I can't think that the U.S want Bin Laden alive. If he's killed, and I can't think he will allow himself to be captured - even by the Taliban, then the last thing the US or Britain would want is for it to be known that he was killed by them - so the story will be - true or manufactured - that he was killed by the Northern Alliance or the Taliban.
