I don't think it likely that we are being monitored by Al-Qaida.
Tim, I wasn't intending to suggest that this was being done in Afghanistan (although it wouldn't surprise me). I would think it is being done right here. We have no clue (which is scary) how many illegal Islamics are roaming our country as we speak, nor what they may doing. We have no clue as to how many legal Arabs or Islamics feel that their loyalty lies with their homelands. There is the appalling story of the South Florida University professor who is known to have established ties with terrorists, and who is said to have raised money for their cause.
So I think it is not improbable that the work-force is here. The greater improbability might be whether they would bother to monitor threads like this one. Personally, I don't see why not. I think most everyone agrees that this is a war to get into people's minds as much as anything else. If I were (ahem) advising the terrorists, I would recommend they use the Internet to this end. SI is a premiere public discussion venue. I would tell them to look here for a reading on public morale, especially any signs of a wavering of resolve, or of increasing divisiveness. I would tell them to open a few accounts here, and choose aliases such as, hmmmm, "True American Patriot." Then I would suggest a lot of posts ragging on our nation, with special emphasis on everything they could rake up from the past that they could characterize as a stain on our honor. I would suggest a lot of posts on racism, homophobia, bigotry and the like. I would definitely supply them with copy for their posts as to how America is really at fault for everything that has happened or will happen.
I think I could really be useful to these guys. (ggg)
