Have you ever looked at a busy port and seen how many containers come in on a daily basis? I live near a major port -- Customs can barely even look inside them all - they probably do not.
Common sense, people. In the case of a port, you seal off simply a larger area, say for instance, a warehouse filled with 10,000 containers and you irradiate the entire area. The idea is not to search them all but rather to kill off any dangerous organic materials inside.
Now, as for protecting ourselves from nuclear attack, a suggestion I mentioned earlier:
1. equip every stoplight on every road leading into every major city in the nation with a highly sensitive Geiger counter; 2. require all new cars be equipped with Geiger counters which cannot be removed, and immediately require all vans and trucks new or old be equipped with such, ditto all private and commercial boats, yachts and aircraft; 3. all ships coming into U.S. ports must have a U.S. Marshal on board from the 12-mile limit on in to check for nuclear materials.
Perhaps there is even now, after thousands have been mass murdered and the attacks are ongoing, still a lack of the political will. One weakness of America is one of its greatest strengths: optimism. That positive attitude contains one risk, and that is that the nation is governed by a reactive, rather than a proactive and preventative frame of mind. Yes, these measures would be time consuming and costly; however, the destruction of a major city would be a far worse catastrophe.
Does anyone truly believe that the enemies of this nation would hesitate in perpetrating such an act? This was a great wake-up call. History will be unforgiving if we do not react with appropriate measures. |
