No, see, even you didn't get her point. Her point was that the Germans and Japanese were more complicit for supporting their governments, and therefore total war made some sense. By contrast, most Afghanis bear no responsibility for the Taliban, but suffer under its yoke, yet they suffer from our bombing. Additionally, Germany and Japan were formidable opponents, while Afghanistan is "in the Stone Age" (untrue, by the way, we have plenty of hard military targets to hit). Thus, she deplores our current campaign.

Anyway, I explained how I thought Carolyn read it, which is plausible, especially if one did not follow the lead up carefully. If Carolyn reacted to the set- up on the RWET, even more was it likely that she misunderstood the context. In that event, looking into and clarifying the matter would have been appropriate. I was not here to do it, so I did it now.......
