Siebel Systems Reports Revenue and Earnings for the Quarter Ended September 30, 2001

SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 17, 2001--Siebel Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:SEBL - news), the world's leading provider of eBusiness applications software, today announced results for the quarter ended September 30, 2001.

Revenues for the third quarter of 2001 were $428.5 million, compared to $496.5 million for the same period in 2000, a decrease of 14 percent. Net income was $35.2 million, or $0.07 per share, compared with net income of $67.5 million, or $0.13 per share, for the third quarter of 2000, representing decreases of 48 percent and 46 percent, respectively.

Revenues from license fees for the third quarter of 2001 were $193.5 million, compared to $308.8 million for the same period in 2000, a decrease of 37 percent. Revenues from maintenance, consulting, and other services were $235.0 million, compared to $187.7 million for the same period in 2000, an increase of 25 percent.

The Company's cash, cash equivalents, and short-term investments were $1.5 billion at September 30, 2001, an increase of $57.2 million from June 30, 2001.
