I'm not sure why you don't think it is a fitting analogy. That's what we got - bugs in holes. You want to send some little robot warriors into those caves with nerve gas, at least I'd say you were addressing the problem.

Short of that option, pound the living hell out of a lifeless corpse of a region like Afghanistan don't smell like victory to me. Have you ever seen pictures of that place? I hadn't. I expected it to be something like Morocco. It isn't. The place looked like Swiss cheese before we started in.
