Zeev,

They are not using troy ounces but "avoir du poids" ounces, the 31.3 ounces/gram you are using is for troy ounces. As well, they are using short tons.

The sample of 900 pounds contains 3.37 gm. So 1 ton (2000 pounds) contains 7.488 grams. This times .035 (.035 ounces avdp/g) = .26 ounces (avdp) per ton.

It seems to be OK. Confusing but OK.
