Is it not true that IBM has not grown its revenues for the past four years? I suspect their earnings are inflated because of their lowered pension fund commitments, plus of course, the usual "pro forma" thingy.

IBM is selling at 23 times those earnings. Even if they really earned that much, the stock is overvalued...

Another reason why I think IBM is sailing high is its high stock price. Because of the way the Dow is computed, a small percentage gain in IBM can result in a greater increase in the Dow, than with a stock like, say, IP or HWP. Anybody who wants to manipulate the Dow would stick to the higher-priced components like MMM and IBM (and PG and MRK to a lesser extent...)
