well, that is a matter of interpretation. AMD had a big loss per share but it is unclear what effect is due to price war and what is purely due to lower demand during economic downturn.

Intel is investing a lot of money into production capacity so it can replace pIII with p4 and conduct the pricewar. The expense would be written off over very long period of time so earnings are not getting hit that hard but if you adjust for the cost of investment then we have extra billions that do not show on the expense side.
