Alcatel has an MPEG 2 codec "set for launch in 1997"... alcatel.com; One apparent use is for Alcatel's 1570 BB Digital Video Broadcast System... alcatel.com; I'm thinking this new Alcatel codec may not be optimal for ATM based networks. I really like the fact that Cisco is supplying the ATM/tag switching technology in the alliance. This plays into NUKO's strength. Peter Smith and all, I'd be very interested to get your opinions on this. This alliance will be a monster. BTW. doing a search of Alcatel's site using keywords like "mpeg 2" and "codec" will turn up a lot of links. Janski, wanna have some fun? <g>
