Ot/China, Oct 17, 2001 (ChinaOnline via COMTEX) Hoping to cash in on the rapidly expanding datastorage business in China, Brocade Communications Systems Inc. announced on Oct. 10 that it would open an office in Beijing to serve what it believes will be the fastest growing infrastructure market in the AsiaPacific region.

The Silicon Valley, Calif.based firm said in a company statement that the demand for storage networks in China is being driven by increased Internet usage, the growth of more dataintensive businesses and the opening of the Chinese market in preparation for the country's accession to the World Trade Organization.

Benjamin Wong, managing director of North Asia for Brocade, said that in addition to the new Beijing office, his company would open a new facility in Hong Kong and add to its staff in the region.

Brocade is one of the leading providers of infrastructure for storage area networks (SAN), which link servers with storage devices.

According to the company's estimates, by 2005 there will be a 100percent annual growth in the amount of data storage shipped.
