But as I recall, you weren't all too favorably disposed to increased drilling in Alaska, or building more Nukes (despite modern designs being nearly accident proof)... :0)

But that said, I think Bush is going to definitely use his bully pulpit to push for his energy policy. He might even become more aggressive while the American people are paying attention, and mad as hell at importing so much oil, and subsidizing these corrupt regimes.

But any significant change in US energy policy will require at least 10 years to accomplish in a meaningful manner. It will require rolling over establish EPA regulations and declaring it to be vital national security interest.

And the wackos will come out again and claim we can conserve ourselves to economic growth.

If there's one rule of thumb for sustained economic growth, it's that there must be access to inexpensive energy. The Tennessee Valley Authority and other major hydro projects provide strong evidence of the benefit of such an energy infrastructure program.
