Has Intel started using local interconnect yet? If I recall, AMD's Tungsten Local Interconnects supposedly gave them a much higher SRAM density on their chips, so if Intel tried to raise the bar, then AMD may be penalized less than Intel.

I acknowledge that my information here may be woefully out of date, though. ^_^
