I think you are, exactly, right about Bush. I believe that there was a reason for the election to be so contentious, and close. The people of the country had become so at odds with each other, they were about to go to war with each other. The election left a lot of people wondering if it was legal, or right. (not me, or you) The horror, and scope, of the attack on 9/11 could, easily, have so stunned an average man in the oval office, that the nation would have been fumbling around for months trying to figure out what happened, and what we could do about it other that the wringing of hands, and moaning about the injustice.
And then there was this man that had been ridiculed because he didn't know some inconsequential leaders, that sometimes seemed to stumble over his words, that even joked about himself at times, was vilified because of youthful transgressions even though he had changed all of that, and a man whose GPA at Yale was questioned. This man stood up, appearing much taller than his actual height, and addressed the nation in such a positive way that it gave me goose bumps. He let the world know that this nation would not tolerate terrorism. He made it clear that he had a grip on things, and was about to take control with a firm hand, to guide the response to such a horrible act with planning, and precision. Suddenly, those that thought little of him, added to those that already had recognized his strength, and gave him a 93% approval rating.
Is there any doubt that a mighty hand put this man in the place he needed to be, when he was needed most?? I have no doubts.
