Harry -

I'm not really conversant with all of Linear's products selling in to the PC market. I do know that DSP chips are not one of their specialties. On the other hand, if they are nimble enough to design and produce one of the new codec's compatible with Intel's MMX instructions, there may be some upside for them.

Most of the Linear Tech products I'm familiar with are basic analog functional circuits - Op amps, voltage regulators, A-D & D-A converters (I have used a Linear A-D product in the past - it worked quite well!).

These kind of commodity type parts will still find use - the new Pentiums and Pentium Pros all run at different Vcc levels (3.3 volts and 2.9 volts) so voltage regulators will still be required to supply these voltages from the basic 5 volt system voltages.

That's about all I can come up with on Linear.
