Of course the UN is are political. Proof is in the fact that the UN has consistently shown a bias towards Israel and against the Palestinians. First, the UN screwed the Palestinians over in the original setup. Then, UN 242 doesn't even provide them basic human rights. The UN is punishing the Palestinians for not being up to speed on our silly nation-state ideals.
