I've been trying to figure if it's gender-linked and have to say that given a number of very vocal women on SI calling for vengeance, it may not be. -g

I don't think it's gender linked. I don't know to what it is linked. I don't understand it very well. I recall discussing the matter on BR and Neo, I think, and he kept framing it as justice. I don't understand it in that context, either. I recognize that I'm way out of the mainstream in this and am not at all qualified to answer your question.

Change of subject. Anthrax. I'm getting more than a little annoyed at the coverage. This morning, there was "breaking news" of a case at CBS. It was reported like there was an earthquake in California or the assassination of a head of state. I was reminded of the coverage of school integration many years ago when there was a governor at the top of the steps to the college, a prospective student at the bottom, and networks interrupted coverage every ten minutes to report that the student was now on the third step, then on the fourth... Enough. We have people in Peoria hoarding drugs, for heaven's sake. I'm starting to get nostalgic for the coverage of Condit.

P.S. Re your other question, yes, IMO it's about oil, with a touch of Israel.
