That poll--if anything Shahak says can be believed-showed that 93% of Israelis said that the attack could not be justified. In the 7 years since the Goldstein attack, which was the work of a solitary lunatic, organized Palestinian factions have carried out attack after attack on Israeli innocent civilians, including babies in their carriages. Is there any doubt that 93% of Palestinans would say such attacks are justified?
After the Goldstein attack, PM Rabin said that the act made him "ashamed to be an Israeli." He meant it. Arafat has never said anything similar, nor if he did, would he be sincere.
Another moral difference: in Israel, Tatiana Soskin, a young Jewish woman is sentenced to prison for defaming Islam. In Egypt, the No. 1 hit on the radio is "I hate Jews." |
