The old saw that "markets climb a wall of worry," is true because it is usually the very times when the risks are apparent, and hence fully discounted, that markets go up. I would argue that the world will return to "normal" very quickly and that the fears that we all have will just become part of our lives like when we lived with a constant threat of nuclear war during the years of the Cold War. Hopefully so, but check out how the market took off when the Cold War did end. Of course, there were many, many other factors in there driving it, but, who knows? bigcharts.marketwatch.com Tony
