Old stuff.

Incredible how narrowly one can define the word "Digital Signal Processor", DSP, when tries
to hype something.

Personally I prefer the more general term "engine" to get those narrowminded DSP xxcensoredxx
to use a couple of neurons more.

Ilmarinen

DSP used to be a magic word among those who did't know what it was about, among some few,
now among many more.

The connecting word should be "programmable engine" in terms of base stations.

Handsets are something totally different, although the base station and handset technologies
at one point were fairly similar.

That is why there are a lot with base stations, while Nokia sits on the keys to the handsets.

Btw, the Altera quote you included correctly used the words "general-purpose DSP", but who
would be that stupid.
