OT re: When does the war on Saudi Arabia begin?
The Saudis, and the Pakistanis, and a bunch of other Moslem governments, are trying to sit on the fence, not irritating either side badly enough to become a target. They are hoping this is all going to get resolved soon. They are trying to finesse the issue. It won't work, and they are going to have to get off the fence, and stand clearly with one side or the other. Where they end up, hasn't been decided yet. So, yes, there is a chance we may find ourselves at war with the Saudis, possibly after the current government is replaced by a Khomeini or a Hussien. The hope that we can prod the Saudis into becoming a British-style constitutional monarchy, is wishful thinking. The economic and cultural prerequisites for that, don't exist in Saudi Arabia. If the current government is changed, it will be done violently (there is no method for, or history of, peaceful transitions), and the successors will be fundamentalist, nationalist, and profoundly anti-american. |
