This asymmetrical treatment should not pass the accounting smell tests, yet analysts and media types let it go time after time.

You gotta get with the program:

Gerald Corrigan, a Goldman Sachs managing director who headed the Federal Reserve Bank of New York during the 1987 crash. "A fundamental breakdown in the plumbing system can do that to public confidence in the financial markets, and in particular, the stock market."
