Off the top of my head, the type of problems I run into with club members doing the defrag thing are: I'd do the control/alt/delete sequence to make sure there are no tasks still showing on the pop-up list, even tho' the sys tray icon shows only volume controls--

BTW, What op/sys are you running?

I'd also ask you if you scan disk regularly PRIOR to running your defrager?

Sometimes, I've had people with full recycle bins get not enough memory to perform ANY operations like opening a game or something. They thought hitting "delete" would do the "remove" deed. I just helped a kid free up over 32meg just by telling him to right mouse click empty his recycle bin<g>

I'd also query you to see if you've modified your virtual memory default setting via control panel.

Are all of your programs that are supposed to be going into hi mem doing so properly? Had any problems there?

If I checked out all those things and didn't find the problem, I'd drop a dime on my best geek friend, or go back and read what bosquedog wrote<vbg>

Any of these resonate?
