The difference is that Syria was called in by Lebanon to settle a war, whereas Israel wanted to (and did) start one. Also, bear in mind that it was Christians who slaughtered the Palestinian refugees under Ariel Sharon's watch (literally, not figuratively - since Israel actually shone spotlights on the camp during the slaughter to make sure it was going according to plan). Lastly, since the U.S. is not funding and arming that brutality, it is not as much of our responsibility. First, do no harm . . .
