Britain was Israel's "best friend" but did that stop them from using terrorism agaisnt their "friend" when it fit their political objective? The Balfour Declaration, the training of some 50,000 Jewish troops to create the first Israel army, Wingate's commitment to their cause; none of these mattered when it came to advancing the shortsighted cause of Zionism.
