Hi Chalu 2. I never got involved on the Liberty incident, but it seems that a couple of points were missed.
Had the boat been Egyptian or Russian, what kind of flag would have they been running so close to the Israeli shore ? (What kind of uniform were the thousands of German soldiers wearing when they were involved behind the US army in Bastogne Xmas 44 ?) The Liberty was spotted on radar first, and a plane was send to check it out.
Let Vidrine try seeing a flag from a military jet, while his buddies couldn't even make the Capitol out on a clear day and with the right maps.
It should be remembered that in the prior hour, two Egyptian missiles were shot at Tel Aviv from the West of the Nile. The first missiles in the region, made by Nazis as we know. They didn't reach land, but passed close to where the Liberty ship was, about 10 miles East of it, before hitting water, as reported by a pilot who tried to follow one of them, unsuccessfully. For those who are in doubt, take a map and draw a line.) Those small boats, travelling at 35 knots, as not to be a sitting duck, can't see much. They had a mission and they carried it out without any hint it could have been a friendly ship spying for details the Pentagon was getting by the minute from the top Israeli brass.
Targetting that boat on purpose would have been like the closest thing to committing suicide.
We must understand that some people prayed all the saints in heaven for that to happen and they are very sore it didn't. |
