PAGE THREE: AUDIO VISUAL AND ANIMATION PRODUCTION
Animation is a major source of entertainment for young audiences. The world wide market for animation and special effects was estimated at $3.8 billion in 1993 with over $2 billion spent in North America. With annual growth forecasted at 25-30% over the next decade, the industry should surpass $18 billion by 1998. Animation markets are vast and diverse and include feature films (Toy Story, Aladdin, The Lion King, The Mask, Forest Gump, Jurassic Park and the most recent Lost World), broadcast production, television commercials, corporate communications, interactive multimedia, video games, CD-ROMs, simulator rides and documentaries.
The market for filmed animation and special effects is an extremely diverse one, with a wide variety of uses for the products and services. HTMP has been a pioneer in the area of stop-motion, model-based dimensional animation, however the company does not restrict itself to this area of the market.
The primary users of animation and special effects are the large film producers, such as Disney, MCA/Universal (MCA) or Alliance, who subcontract animation and special effects. Other major sources of business include; advertising agencies that seek to incorporae logos in their messages and television production companies (such as CITY-TV) who contract out animation for television show openings and logos. A fast growing market for animation is Location Based Entertainment, usually consisting of simulator rides.
Animation has long been the cornerstone of the Company. R. Hall Train has won 18 international wards for producing special animated effects featuring dimensional animation combined with live action and computer generated images. The success of this division continues to be based on its ability to rapidly deliver high quality, realistic and cost effective animation. |
