Networking Question:
I an using a 4 port Netgear router to share cable modem and printers. The cable modem is on my desktop and I network one or both of my laptops in same room. I recently bought my wife a new computer ( with a NIC card) and it is in another part of the house. I need to get an ethernet line back to the router. I might be able to run a direct CAT5 cable but it will be difficulty. Is there a wireless solution or one which runs through the phone or electrical line. I do not particularly want to put another device in the new computer. The phone outlets near both computers have a number of unused pairs. Can I use these to make up an ethernet line. Are there any issues of length or shielding I should be concerned with?
Also is there a good site which discusses these kind of network issues.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
