Gaddafi condemns use of anthrax as 'demonic'

TRIPOLI, Oct 18 AP - Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi condemned today the use of anthrax as ``demonic'', saying its effects were more dangerous than the atomic bomb.

In a statement to the official news agency JANA, Gaddafi called the anthrax threat ``a real terrorism, which is worse than material terrorism and more horrible than weapons of mass destruction''.

``It is not limited to a time or place and its effects are more dangerous than atomic bomb,'' JANA quoted him as saying.

Gaddafi called for an international conference to discuss the anthrax problem ``away from emotions'' created by the scare worldwide.

``I cannot imagine a human being using viruses against another human being, irrespective of the degree of hostility,'' he said.

Gaddafi has condemned the September 11 attacks in the United States and the US retaliatory attacks.

He said ``military courage'' was not useful at the moment, and called for putting cruise missiles and warplanes in museums.
