Bev,
Sorry for the delay, I am "one of those stock market types" also.

Next, I must revisit New Mexico. Unlike the east, each state in the west has so many miles that often more than one vacation area exists
in a given state.

A great starting point for a tour of "the enchanted circle" of New Mexico is Las Vegas. An outpost on I-25 before it turns from North/South to East/West. A more lovely "foothills" town can not be found. The Sandre De Cristos above offer boundless hiking & fishing opportunities. The old town square defies any words used to describe the history and beauty. The many old restored hotels must be seen & stayed in. The sore muscles you have earned from hiking above town
or sight seeing below should be soaked in the Public Hot Springs.

Three-fourths of a days drive will put you in Red River. In winter a ski town, in summer this escape from the heat is great for relaxing.
From the deck of our motel (reasonably priced)room we watched elk
frolic in the ski slope's clear cut,as the sky was painted every color by the setting sun.

Darkness need not end your day. Very good "western" & "mexican" dining
can be found, & you would be suprised at the level of night life here for such a small town.

The next day Taos can be seen. All the artists of the west have always
gone to Taos, & so should you! The gallereys & shops can yield a lifetime of enjoyment.

From here the drive to Historic Santa Fe will provide a most memorable
experience. This city is historic even by east cost standards. Spanish
colonial construction is to be found at every turn. The walking and shopping my wife recomends.

Later - Richard
